Redemption (Red)
Before After
Red came to us extremely underweight when he came into our care in 2006. Amazingly, this was Kristy's childhood horse that she had to sell when she was in college that she was reunited with. He also suffered from a severe injury to his left front heel, which has caused his hoof to grow back irregular and weak. He has gained all of his weight back, and his hoof is managed with hoof supplements and frequent hoof care. Red is a true blessing to this ministry! We are so thankful to have him in our lives again! He is home! Sadly Red passed away in December 2010, but his legacy will live on. (Redemption- rescued)

JTH Elusion Bugs (Ellie)

Ellie was rescued from an auction in NJ in August 2011. She was one of the last horses standing in a kill pen. There were a few individuals that wanted to bail her out, but no one was able to help her for one reason or another- whether it was finances or not having a place to keep her. We knew that we had to save her! If we did not bail her out, she would have been sent to slaughter. After she came home, we found out that she has some pretty incredible horse legends in her bloodlines like Jetalito (a famous paint), Three Bars (a famous quarter horse), and Man O' War (a famous thoroughbred). We could not understand why no one would want her. She was young with a very muscular build, healthy, and sound. After making a few more calls, we found out that the only reason she was no longer wanted was due to the fact that she did not "fit" the riding discipline the previous owner wanted her for. We believe in Ellie, and we believe that she is going to be a super star here with us! (Ellie- shining light)

Hank the Tank (Hank)
Hank was donated to us so that he could be utilized in our program as a lesson pony. He was adopted by Loftmar Stables to do just that, and he is doing so well teaching non-experienced and beginner riders the basics of horseback riding and horsemanship! He is doing so well over at Loftmar where we run our horseback riding and horsemanship programs, and we could not be happier for him.
Status: ADOPTED (Lesson Pony/Program Pony)
Fuel My Ride (Diesel)
Diesel was donated to us so that he could be utilized in our program as a lesson horse. He was adopted by Loftmar Stables to do just that, and he is doing wonderfully! He is even going to the shows and winning many blues! He is tall, dark, and handsome and very flashy! He is doing so well over at Loftmar where we run our horseback riding and horsemanship programs, and we are glad that he is fitting in so well.
Status: ADOPTED (Lesson/Show Horse)
Mr. Goodbar (Rocky)
Rocky was donated to us so that he could be utilized in our program as a lesson pony. He was adopted by Loftmar Stables to do just that and more! He is doing so great there that he is even going to the horse shows with one of Loftmar's students! He really seems to enjoy his job, and he definitely loves to jump! He is doing so well over at Loftmar where we run our horseback riding and horsemanship programs, and we are so happy for him in his new career.
Status: ADOPTED (Lesson/Show Pony)
Pikachu

Pikachu was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue from the same auction we saved Ellie from. We went to go look at her to see if she would be a good fit for Loftmar's lesson program, and notified the owners of Loftmar that they should definitely try her out. Later Pikachu came to Loftmar to be fostered, and she fit into the program so well that they decided to adopt her. She is truly thriving over at Loftmar, and she is a favorite among many of the students there. We are so glad to have been a part in Pikachu finding her forever home!
Status: ADOPTED (Lesson Horse)
Crusin' Down the Rio (Rio)

Rio was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue from the same auction we saved Ellie from. We went to go look at him to see if he would be a good fit for Loftmar's lesson program. He had such a sweet disposition that we notified the owners of Loftmar that they should definitely try him out too. Later Rio came to Loftmar to be fostered. He tried really hard to do his new job, but it just was not the right fit for him. Along came Tina, who adopted him as a family horse which is just what he needed. We are so glad to have been a part in Rio finding his forever home!
Status: ADOPTED (Family Horse)
Lilly
Lilly was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue, and we informed the owners of Loftmar Stables that there were several horses available for adoption that they should consider looking at to add to their lesson program. When the owner saw Lilly, the sweet old girl melted her heart and she had to give her a try. Lilly, despite her old age and suffering from advanced stages of cushings disease, did a fantastic job at Loftmar's summer camp and lesson program. Sadly, just a few short months later, Lilly lost her battle to Cushing's. She will be missed dearly, but we are so glad that we played a role in the last moments of her life being full of love, care, and so much attention from little kiddos!

Italian Eyes (Occhi)
Before After
Occhi was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue (www.FreedomHillHorseRescue.com) at an auction. When he came into the rescue's care he was scared, underweight and had scratches all over his body. When we saw him, we knew that we had to take him home with us to be a part of our ministry family! We are so thankful that he crossed our path! He is such a sweet boy! (Occhi- "eyes" in italian)

El Dorado (ED)

El Dorado was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue after we were notified of a horrible situation and brought it to FHHR's attention. El Dorado was a stallion in a field with three mares and two foals. The little food that all six horses were getting, El Dorado and Liberty were eating for themselves. Unfortunately, one of the mares died of starvation the day we were notified of what was going on and left a foal behind, Maverick, and the other mare was severly emaciated and near death as well, Takota. Takota was nursing her own foal, Apple, but adopted Maverick as her own and allowed him to nurse as well. Both foals were full of parasites, but were saved by Takota's will to survive and will to save the life of her babies. El Dorado is now gelded, and he is doing wonderfully in his training! We are so happy he has a second chance to find his forever home!

Liberty (Libby)

Liberty was rescued by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue after we were notified of a horrible situation and brought it to FHHR's attention. Libby is a lovely young mare that is gentle and kind. She was born on a BLM range and then was removed from the wild placed through the BLM adoption program. Unfortunately she ended up with a woman that did not know how to care for horses and was taken to a back yard along with two other young mares and a young stallion so the owner could breed them and make money on the babies. Sadly she starved and neglected the horses. Libby along with the horses that survived, were taken in by Freedom Hill Horse Rescue. She is now healthy, happy and ready for a new home to train her into the great riding horse she can be. We are so happy tp have been a part in helping her have a second chance and be "free to live again"!

Takota
Before

After

Takoda was one of the BLM mustangs we notified Freedom Hill Horse Rescue of and they brought her in due to starvation and neglect. She was nursing her own foal along with another foal that lost its mother due to starvation on the property. She stands for the farrier, ties and loves to be groomed. Takoda was just over 500 lbs when she came into the rescue. She was near death, but she has recovered very nicely and is now steadily gaining weight. She is happy and healthy and ready for her new home. She will need time to allow her muscles to strengthen before being broke to ride. She is very friendly and kind and will be a great little horse for trails. Mustangs are known for their dedication to their owners and will become a great friend if you provide them with the safety of good training, a comfortable home and respectful relationship. She sure did prove this by her will to survive, and her will to help her baby survive and her adopted baby survive! We are so glad we were able to play a role in the transformation of her life!

Apple & Maverick

Apple (left) and Maverick (right) were the two foals in the same case we were made aware of and brought it to Freedom Hill Horse Rescue's attention. Apple is the foal of Takota. She is very gentle and sweet. She stands for the farrier, leads, and she loves to get groomed and to be fussed over. Maverick is the foal whose mother unfortunately died the day we were made aware of the situation. Maverick was thankfully adopted by Takota, which saved his life. He is very gentle, and he loves kids and attention. He stands for the farrier and is just as kind as he can be.
